Flay, as a founding partner of Rehab Engineering PC, has always focused on providing exceptional design and innovative engineering solutions. From the beginning, he has viewed every project as an opportunity to form a lasting partnership. This has repeatedly earned the trust of architects, developers, general contractors, and those we are privileged to call our clients. As Rehab Engineering has grown, Flay’s focus on the value of partnership continues to define the firm’s approach to design and service.
As the Engineer of Record, Flay is responsible (through execution or oversight) for all MEP and structural design work performed by the firm. Flay is also responsible for new client development, planning and construction administration. He continually cultivates relationships and opportunities to advance the growth of Rehab Engineering.
Both a LEED Accredited Professional and a former HERS Rater, Flay brings a valuable awareness of energy and water efficient design strategies, as well as the capability to combine Green Building techniques with progressive building science to produce new and renovated buildings that are safe, healthy, resource-efficient places to live and work.
With over 20 years in product design and development, and ten U.S. Patents, Flay is well equipped with strong engineering experience and management skills that ensure Rehab Engineering effectively meets the goals of every client.

Ed is a founding partner of Rehab Engineering, P.C. and has over 57 years of experience in all types of construction. With many years of field experience working as a general contractor, project manager, site superintendent and estimator, Ed provides valuable coordination between our MEP and structural design work and the architects and civil engineers for our projects. Ed also contributes to new client development, planning, and construction administration.
With a special love and affinity for renovation and adaptive reuse projects, Ed specializes in the historic preservation aspects and site requirements of a project, providing technical expertise and on-site problem-solving. Ed is particularly adept in the design, layout and “circulation” planning for residential apartments in historic adaptive reuse projects, and often assists clients in getting the “best” out of their project. Ed is also the founder and President of Rehab Builders Inc., a general contracting firm and sister-company, also based in Winston-Salem, NC.

Eric specializes in MEP design for lighting design for building interiors and site lighting. As one of our AutoCAD experts, he is responsible for initial design/layout, research, and complete project documentation. Eric has extensive experience with HVAC load calculation and domestic water supply analysis software. Additionally, his experience and expertise extends to other building science analysis tools, including energy modeling software and BLOWER DOOR test equipment. As a result of his cross-training with Rehab Builders Inc. as a project foreman, Eric brings valuable hands-on construction experience with him from the field.

He routinely provides on-site construction administration and often leads Rehab Building crews implementing structural repairs and modifications.
